MEET HARRY BULTEMA

Harry Bultema was born in the Netherlands. Educated at Calvin College and Seminary in Grand Rapids, Bultema pastored Christian Reformed churches in Iowa and Michigan. Personal studies led him to the conclusion that there is a difference between Christ as King of Israel and Christ as Head of the Church, which resulted in his becoming a dispensationalist and in the formation of the Berean Bible Church of Muskegon, Michigan, where he pastored for 31 years. He was a popular conference speaker in the United States and in the Netherlands.

Bultema’s deep desire to present the message of God’s grace in print led him into a prolific writing ministry. His writings in the Dutch language include commentaries on ISAIAH, JEREMIAH, EZEKIEL, DANIEL, ZECHARIAH, and REVELATION; all of which have now been translated into English and are available through the Grace Believer Literature Ministry. The widespread confusion among God’s people on the great doctrine of Baptism moved him to extensive research on this important subject producing his BIBLE AND BAPTISM, still in demand after forty years in print. His aim was to highlight God’s warning against clinging to "divers baptisms" and to present clearly the great benefit of being eternally united to Christ through the "one baptism."

Students of prophecy will appreciate MARANATHA, a careful and systematic study of the premillenial return of Christ. In this classic work, the author supplies valuable Biblical and historical material to enable the reader to understand fulfilled prophecies and those yet to be fulfilled. This clear and interesting study has led many believers to rejoice in the "blessed hope" of Christ’s imminent return. DANIEL and REVELATION, written from a dispensational perspective, combine scholarship with a spiritual emphasis to bring to bear the importance of God’s great plan of the ages on the lives of believers today. His commentary on ROMANS and BRIEF NOTES ON GALATIANS would make worthwhile additions to your home library and, of course, should be in every pastor’s hands. Other of his published titles include, MY TRIP TO THE GLORY OF ALL LANDS, THE NAMES OF OUR WONDERFUL LORD, and BRIEF NOTES ON 1 & 2 CORINTHIANS. If you don’t find everything you want by Bultema in our current Literature Section, write or call us at (630) 834-0884 and ask for it.

The GRACE BELIEVER does not endorse every view of every author. Through this column and its literature ministry, the Grace Believer seeks to aid Christians in building an interesting and informative Home Library that will add to their understanding of God’s Word, enhancing personal growth and increasing effectiveness in ministry.
